ARSEC Environmental, LLC – A Partnership
Between ARS and SEC
ARSEC ENVIRONMENTAL,
LLC AWARDED TASK ORDER
LANL
T.O. Valued at $1.99M awarded through MTOA
White Rock, New Mexico – April 12, 2010 –
ARSEC Environmental, LLC, a Joint
Venture between American Radiation Services,
Inc. (dba ARS International) and Safety and
Ecology Corporation (SEC), was awarded a
task order by Los Alamos National Security,
LLC (LANS) to perform the decontamination
and demolition (D&D) of the DP West cluster
of buildings located in Technical Area 21
(TA-21) at Los Alamos National Laboratory
(LANL). The
project is scheduled to begin in mid-April
2010 with a mid-December 2010 completion,
and is valued at $1.99 million.
ARSEC Environmental will
perform the work under its Master Task Order
Agreements (MTOA)
contract from LANS for projects at LANL.
This
is the second task order for field work
awarded to ARSEC Environmental by LANS under
the MTOA funded by the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA). In the previous
task order, ARSEC is performing hazardous
abatement, removing materials from the same
cluster of DP West buildings, in which the
team will now perform D&D.
“ARSEC recognizes the historical
significance of the TA-21 facilities and is
proud to have been awarded another ARRA
funded contract at LANL,”
said Danny
Coleman, ARSEC/ARS CEO.
“We are pleased to be
retaining current employees as well as
creating new jobs in the
Northern New Mexico area.”
This ARRA funded task
order will retain approximately six jobs and
create an additional eight jobs, including
technical and field support personnel. Led
by ARSEC Program Manager Steve Shirley, this
task order will be supported by
subcontractors Weston Solutions, providing
field technical/engineering services, and
Keers Remediation, providing asbestos and
lead abatement.
Under the MTOA, the task
orders are partially funded by the ARRA and
contain a maximum capacity of $100M.
Awarded in August, 2009, the four
awarded companies bid competitively for a
variety of Remedial Action (RA) / D&D
services at LANL.
TA-21 is located east of
downtown Los Alamos, New Mexico, on Delta Prime (DP) Mesa.
Constructed in 1944 and 1945, the original
facilities at TA-21 were used for Plutonium
purification operations. DP Mesa is
divided into two separate areas.
LANL transferred plutonium purification and
recovery operations to the DP West facility
1945.
DP West was used for production-scale
uranium and plutonium processing until 1977.
